The artfair ARCOmadrid
offered a platform for a representation of Dutch art organisations, art professionals, and artists, convened and presented by Latitudes in the framework of The Netherlands as the guest country in the 2012 edition.
Hosted within a specially-commissioned structure ‘Superstructure
’ by Dutch artist Jasper Niens
and designer Thijs Ewalts
, 'The Dutch Assembly' consisted of the accumulation of 30 hourly talks, readings, presentations, performances, book launches, in conversations and screenings throughout the five days of the fair. Nearly 100 art professionals were involved in debates that analysed cultural practices and policies, in particular their concerns towards the funding cuts in the 2013 horizon, as well as reflections of the artistic links between Spain and the Netherlands.
In September 2013, in the context of the Netherlands-Russia Year 2013, the specially-commissioned pavilion continued its journey to Moscow and hosted ‘The Dutch Art Assembly – How do we want to be curated?
’, a new series of discussions between Russian and Dutch art professionals during the 5th Moscow Biennale.
