Hosted within the ‘
Superstructure’, a specially-commissioned snail's shell architecture by Dutch artist
Jasper Niens and designer
Thijs Ewalts, 'The Dutch Assembly' consisted of a five-day gathering convened and moderated by Latitudes in the framework of The Netherlands as the guest country in the 2012 edition of
ARCOmadrid.
Nearly 100 art professionals debated around cultural practices and policies, sharing their most immediate concerns around the funding cuts in the 2013 horizon, as well as reflections of the artistic links between Spain and the Netherlands. Artists, researchers, gallerists, professors and curators connected and debated with the audience throughout 30 lectures, dialogues, readings, performances, book launches and screenings.
In September 2013, in the context of the Netherlands-Russia Year 2013, the pavilion travelled to Moscow to host ‘
The Dutch Art Assembly – How do we want to be curated?’, a new series of discussions between Russian and Dutch art professionals presented during the 5th Moscow Biennale.
